As expected, the 2013 Damage Prevention & Excavation Safety Summit was a HUGE success! More than 1,100 people descended on the Boone County Fairgrounds on November 6th and 7th to attend the nation’s largest Damage Prevention Summit.

In addition to 18 courses provided completely free of charge, participants competed in locator and excavator rodeos and other events for cash prizes. For the first time anywhere, a live trench rescue was performed by the Boone County Fire Protection District Task Force 1. This live demonstration of a real trench rescue in action provided viewers with a firsthand view of what processes and procedures must be observed when someone is buried in an unsafe trench. This demonstration was tied to the summit’s keynote speaker Eric Giguere who gave participants a play by play of what happened when he was buried alive and reminded them of the need to work safely.

We will be posting photos, videos, and presentations of the event very soon. Please check back often to see updated content. Additionally, registration for the 2014 Damage Prevention & Excavation Safety Summit will open in September. Your early registration ensures your spot and guarantees you access to the high quality FREE training that the Missouri Common Ground Alliance has earned the well-deserved reputation of providing. We hope to see you return on November 5th & 6th, 2014.

Between now and then, stay SAFE!
